ABOUT US

  • The Security Association of India was registered in 1977 vide Registration No.BOM.90/1977 G.B.B.- S.D dated 15/02/1977.
  • Security Association of India was founded by three Promoters, Mr. Vishnoo Gopal Kanetkar, IPS (Retd.),  ex-Directorate General of Maharashtra, Mr. Seshrao Krishna Kulkarni and Mr. Harprakash Singh Bawa on 15th February, 1977 under the Societies Act, 1860 in Maharashtra State (Regn. No.BOM 90/1977G.B.B.S.D.).
  • Its first Chairman was Mr. V G Kanetkar, IPS (Retd.), ex-D.G. Maharashtra in 2004 and the second Chairman is Commander (Retd.) Omprakash Bakshi.
  • Its first President was Mr. H. S. Bawa, second was Commander Omprakashji, INS (Retd.) and the third President from 2003-2004 was Mr. S. G. Sahasrabojane, IPS (Retd.).
  • From 2004 Mr. Gurcharan Singh Chauhan is the President.
  • It is the only Security Association existing in India which has a history of efforts over the years which have helped the Government to  pass the Private Regulations Act, 2005 in the Central Parliament.
  • Under the umbrella of Security Association  of India, its members are committed to provide crime free atmosphere to the public of our country.
  • The Association is non-political and non-sectarian in nature.

FOUNDERS

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

The Association is non political and non sectarian in nature. The principal aims and objectives of the Association are:

To promote the science of investigation and security.To diffuse and promote knowledge and education in the sphere of investigation and security.To encourage high standards of service and equipment required by the security industry and to encourage research and development of mechanical, electronic and other equipment.To maintain the highest traditions of truth, sincerity and integrity and to give to the clients efficient and honest service in the spheres of investigation and security.To create and promote bonds of goodwill, friendship and co-operation among all those who practice the profession of investigation and security.

ACHIVEMENTS

An expert Committee was constituted by Shri Rajesh Pilot, Hon’ble Minister of State for Internal Security in March 1995.  This Committee was constituted under the Chairmanship of Mr. Raja Vijay Karan, IPS (Retd.). former Director, CBI and Commander Omprakashji, President, Security Association of India, Capt. Menon Sahi, Mr. K P Singh, Chief Security, Tata Steel, Jamshedpur, Mr. B K Mohanty, IPS (Retd.,), Brig. S S Adhikari, Mr. R C Madan, Lt. Col. J S Paul, Mr. Pawanjeet Ahluwalia and Mr. Anant Chari, IS (Retd.), former Director, BSF. There were special invitees from abroad.  Mr. R H Poole from U.K., Dr. Norman M, JD CPP, USA, Haji Rehmat Bin Ismail from Malaysia, Mr. Sombat Pim, Patiala, Thailand, Mr. Jairaj from Singapore, Mr. Bill Tomfret from Canada, Mr. P Kalashree from Singapore.

ACTIVITIES

In furtherance of its aims and objects, the Association undertakes, among others, the following activities:

Establishment of information, exchange centers.Organization of lectures, talks, symposia, conventions, seminars and classes for the discussion of issues related to security and investigation.Establishment of libraries, study and research centres, specially devoted to promote the concept of good security and efficient investigation.Publication of bulletins, books, pamphlets and periodical literature.Organization of exhibition, social gatherings and cultural programmes on various phases of security and investigation.Holding of receptions and press conferences andSending of delegations to conferences, seminars etc. held on security and investigation within and outside India.
