- The first president was Mr. H. S. Bawa; its second was Commander Omprakashji, INS (Retd.); and its third president from 2003–2004 was Mr. S. G. Sahasrabojane, IPS (Retd.).
- Since 2004, Mr. Gurcharan Singh Chauhan has been the president.
- It is the only security association existing in India that has a history of efforts over the years that have helped the government pass the Private Regulations Act, 2005, in the Central Parliament.
- Under the umbrella of the Security Association of India, its members are committed to providing a crime-free atmosphere to the public of our country.
- The association is non-political and non-sectarian in nature.
- The Security Association of India was registered in 1977 via Registration No.BOM.90/1977 G.B.B.-S.D. dated February 15, 1977.
- The Security Association of India was founded by three promoters, Mr. Vishnoo Gopal Kanetkar, IPS (Retd.), ex-Directorate General of Maharashtra, Mr. Seshrao Krishna Kulkarni, and Mr. Harprakash Singh Bawa, on February 15, 1977, under the Societies Act, 1860, in Maharashtra State (Regn. No.BOM 90/1977G.B.B.S.D.).
- Its first chairman was Mr. V. G. Kanetkar, IPS (Retd.), ex-D.G. Maharashtra, in 2004, and the second chairman is Commander (Retd.) Omprakash Bakshi.
